It is fun for me to see how different families prepare the different food and what side items each have as their traditional items, etc. At our friends' house, we had a turducken (yes, that is a real thing-a turkey stuffed with a duck, stuffed with a chicken), dressing, apple salad, sweet potato casserole, broccoli, corn, rolls, pecan pie and some fudge pie thing, oh and a jello type of dessert. All of the food tasted different than it does when we prepare it in my family (of course), but it was good. At my parents' house, we had turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, noodles, broccoli casserole, dressing, a different tasting apple salad, green bean casserole, deviled eggs, and a pumpkin type of cake, and a cherry pie.
My contribution to the friend dinner was the sweet potato casserole, the jello salad, and the pecan pie. The sweet potato stuff was a new recipe that I got from a different friend and it was SO good. It will be the one I use from now on. The jello salad is one I've made before, and the pecan pie was frozen Marie Calendar. I have made pecan pie before, but this year I ran out of time.
I've just put some laundry in and think I'll relax a little while that is finishing up. I hope that all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving(well-those of you who celebrate it)!
